Each community within the CAT is unique, with its own history and culture which is respected and valued. Difference is celebrated and welcomed. Our aim is to build a sustainable collaboration for the common good of Catholic education.
How do we interpret these values when developing plans for the establishment of a CAT in a complex environment?
Solidarity: having a deep understanding and respect and support of each other’s schools/ communities reflected in our plans.
Subsidiarity: enabling decisions to be taken at the appropriate level to ensure engagement and respecting the dignity of others and the autonomy of the schools
Common good: enabling the wellbeing and flourishing of the totality of Sancta Familia.
Option for the Poor: systems which enable all of our young people to flourish.
Dignity of workers: Sancta Familia will develop systems and policies which respect and promote the wellbeing and rights and responsibility of staff, their professional bodies, the Catholic bishops of England and Wales. Dignity of workers will be reflected in HR policies, pay and conditions.
Sustainability: we will develop systems and policies that respect the recommendations of Fratelli Tutti.
Are there any other values we agreed were important?
Autonomy: empowering each school community to engage and participate in the CAT through having responsibility and decision making being exercised in its local Governing body whilst actively contributing to the strategic decision making of the CAT in collaboration with Directors and Officers.
Synodality: listening and discerning together the way forward.
Reciprocity: Leaders at all levels in the CAT practice exchanging things with each other for mutual benefit or responding to positive action with another positive action.
