Stepping away from the busyness of the school term, the group came together around the theme of “Seeds of Hope.” The day provided a peaceful space to reflect on our personal spiritual journeys—considering when we feel most open to God’s grace and what enables us to flourish, both personally and in our callings as Catholic leaders.
In group discussions, colleagues shared moments when they felt truly aligned with Christ's example. A clear, inspiring theme emerged: we are at our flourishing best when we anticipate the needs of those around us, foster unity within our school communities, and act as peacemakers.
Fr Nick guided the team through three key movements of spiritual leadership to support everyone in their daily ministry:
-
Leading with respectful care – rooted in the dignity of every individual
-
Leading in a shared mission – united in our common purpose as a Catholic community
-
Leading with hope – grounded in our faith in Christ's promise
A central focus of the day was Cura Personalis—the Jesuit tradition of care for the whole person. Fr Nick explored how this holistic approach, alongside the rich principles of Catholic Social Teaching, can directly shape our leadership, ensuring our schools remain compassionate, Christ-centred places where staff and children alike can thrive.
It was a deeply uplifting day for our trust leadership. We extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Father Nick for his warm hospitality, his spiritual guidance, and his inspiring stewardship throughout the retreat.
